Breakthrough! The fishing fleet gets to keep the CO₂ exemption – for now

Following strong pressure from, among others, Fiskebåt, Bunker Oil, and several actors in the seafood industry, the government has now decided to postpone the introduction of the CO₂ tax on fuel for the fishing fleet. The tax was originally supposed to take effect on July 1 this year, but has now been postponed to January 1, 2026.

📣 This is an important victory and clear proof that it pays off to persevere, speak up, and never give up.

The CO₂ exemption is crucial to ensuring the competitiveness and sustainability of the Norwegian fishing industry – and we are not at the finish line yet. The work for a permanent exemption continues with full force, and the industry stands united in the demand that the CO₂ tax must be removed completely.

We thank everyone who has got involved, raised their voice, and helped to make a difference. This shows how important it is to stand together when it matters.
