Bunker Oil supports initiatives that contribute to education, inclusion, and aid for people – both locally and internationally.
Community engagement and local value creation
Bunker Oil is a socially engaged actor that wishes to contribute positively to the local communities we are a part of. We believe in the value of community, activity, inclusion, and good meeting places – for children, youth, and adults.
Through financial support, we contribute to a wide range of causes within sports, culture, volunteering, health, emergency preparedness, inclusion, and local engagement. For us, corporate social responsibility is about showing up where we can, and supporting initiatives that create activity, mastery, safety, and a sense of belonging.
We are mindful of supporting causes that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and we want our contributions to have a positive impact locally, nationally, and internationally.
From grassroots and informal play to a professional level
Bunker Oil supports activity at all levels – from recreational sports, youth sports, and local playground activities to teams, clubs, and professional athletes. We want to contribute so that more people have the opportunity to participate, develop, and experience the joy of sports.
Our support goes directly to sports clubs, team sports, individual athletes, and events within handball, football, swimming, cheerleading, motocross, archery, and disc golf, among others. We support both local teams and clubs, as well as football at a high level – from the Eliteserien and OBOS-ligaen to various divisions and grassroots clubs.
We also contribute to winter activities through support for ski clubs, ski trail preparation, and the operation of ski lifts. This can, for instance, be in the form of diesel and fuel support, which makes it possible to facilitate good ski trails, activity in the local areas, and safe, accessible winter offerings for children, youth, and adults.
We cheer on the commitment, effort, and volunteering that lies behind sports, regardless of the level.
Culture, volunteering and great meeting places
Bunker Oil also wants to contribute to learning, curiosity, and technological understanding among children and youth. Therefore, we supported local school classes participating in FIRST® LEGO League, one of the world's largest technology and knowledge competitions for children and youth.
Through the competition, students get to work practically with STEM subjects, technology, programming, innovation, and collaboration. They research current issues, develop their own solutions, and design and program robots. This provides valuable learning, a sense of achievement, and experience in problem-solving – skills that are important for the future professional life.
With financial support, we want to make it possible for students and school classes to continue participating in the competition when they qualify. Our contributions can, among other things, help cover travel and participation from qualifiers and regional finals to national, Scandinavian, and international finals. In this way, the students get the opportunity to represent their school, local community, and region outside of their own local area.
For us, this is an investment in hope for the future, interest in technology, and young problem solvers.
Diversity and inclusion
We want to contribute to a society where more people feel seen, included, and valued. Therefore, we support initiatives that promote diversity, equality, and participation.
Bunker Oil is a Pride friendly company and supports Pride events. We are also a sponsor of Jentebølgen (Norway's largest exercise run for women), and participate with our own team. For us, these are important contributions to visibility, community, and inclusion.
Annual Christmas tradition with support for charitable causes
Every year, Bunker Oil continues a Christmas tradition by providing financial support to charitable organizations. Our customers and business partners help determine how the support is distributed among the organizations.
The annual support amounts to approximately NOK 265,000, distributed among several charitable causes, including:
The Salvation Army, The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue, The Norwegian Red Cross, The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation, The Norwegian Cancer Society, The Norwegian Childhood Cancer Society, The Church City Mission, NCA (Norwegian Church Aid), Save the Children, Doctors Without Borders, Mental Health, Make-A-Wish, Blue Cross, The Atlas Alliance, and Cochabamba Children.
In addition, Bunker Oil supports the annual national telethon and various other fundraising campaigns for good causes. This is a natural part of our social commitment, where we wish to contribute to organizations and initiatives that create safety, care, hope, and better living conditions for people in need.
