The Mobiltemp SHC™ series products are high-performance anti-wear greases primarily intended for high-temperature applications. They combine the unique features of a polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic base fluid with an organo-clay (non-soap) thickener. The excellent resistance to thermal/oxidative degradation provided by the PAO base oil, combined with the clay thickener's outstanding structural stability at high temperatures and high dropping points, results in quality greases for high-temperature use. The wax-free nature of the synthetic base oil, along with its high viscosity index, provides both superior lubrication at low temperatures and excellent grease film protection at high temperatures. Because the PAO synthetic base oil has low traction properties (compared to mineral oil), the Mobiltemp SHC series also offers the potential for energy savings through reduced friction and lower torque, as well as reduced temperatures in the load zone of rolling element bearings. Mobiltemp SHC 460 contains molybdenum disulfide for extra wear protection.
