Biodiesel
Biodiesel is renewable diesel that is blended into regular diesel. Around 90 percent of the biofuel sold in Norway is biodiesel. Biodiesel is produced from oil-rich plants such as rapeseed and sustainable palms. There are mainly two types of biodiesel on the Norwegian market; FAME and HVO. The main difference between them is the production method. HVO has a more advanced production method, which means it is chemically more similar to fossil diesel than FAME is. Biodiesel can be either conventional or advanced biofuel, and the decisive factor is which raw material the biodiesel is produced from.
